In Mexico City there's a kind of place called a lonchería. Coffee and breakfast in the morning, lunch if you work nearby, and somehow everyone already knows each other by name. Nobody reads the menu because nobody needs to. It's not a restaurant. It's the neighbourhood's kitchen.
Chepa is my attempt to bring that here, a nod to my grandmother Carolina's recipes, built for Northcote. Great coffee, better food, the right music, and a room where you're a regular from the first visit. — J
